[kkstarratings]While the very idea of moving makes many of our real estate clients automatically stress out. In minimizing the stress and mental anguish, here are a few steps to take in order to make your move as smooth as possible.
The first order of business is to SIMPLIFY the task! To do just that, you simply start by “de-cluttering.” Find out what you actually use and what just sits there and collects all that dust! Once you have made those all important decisions, now is the best time to donate all those “unwanted” household items to your local charity. Don’t forget to get a receipt from your chosen charity. It is a great tax write off!
Secondly, you’ll need to ORGANIZE & PRIORITIZE! Don’t over think it! Take a deep breath and start by going to one room at a time. When boxing up your belongings, be sure to be prepared in advance by getting the appropriate boxing containers to store all of your items. For example, you could go down to FEDEX authorized Ship Center located on 1242 University Ave. #3, Riverside, CA. for all of your packing supplies, but make sure the items you buy are right for the job you want them to do. This is especially important if you have help moving or decide to hire someone to help… they don’t care about your stuff as much as you do, I guarantee it. You don’t want your contents broken, or spilling out everywhere while in transport. Also, be sure to label each box by what the contents contain. That way, when you arrive at your new destination there will be no confusion as to what is in each box.
Finally, Don’t be afraid to GET HELP! Recruit your friends and family members to help you out! They are much “cheaper” and much more trustworthy then hiring random movers that that charge an arm and a leg for the service. Just make sure that you keep them happy by providing some cold drinks and for food to keep them moving. It can be as simple as picking up your phone and ordering a couple of pizzas for delivery! Oh, I almost forgot. My friend just completed there big move from Oregon to Riverside, California just last week. She informed me that she had packed a “survival Kit.” It is the coolest thing! She had set aside some key items that she couldn’t live with out the first night or two in your new home. That way it can give you a little bit more stress free in searching for those items. I hope this little tidbit could help you get ready and stress free for your big moving day!
